Porto das Dunas and the environment have a lot to offer. You can delightfully walk, ride a horse, journeys on a donkey, on tour in a beach buggy along the white dunes. The beach buggies can you rent in many places and are a great experience. With these buggies you can easily explore the environment and the miles long beach of Cumbuco with dunes like the Grand Canyon is certainly worth the visit. On these dunes can you sandboard, you surf of the white dunes with a kind of short snowboard. Besides the many beautiful beaches is the hinterland also worth a visit. Not far from Porto das Dunas you can find the beautiful beach Morro Branco. This beach is well known for the multicoloured sand and the artists that make true art in bottles, glasses and pots. They fill the bottles with a very accurate precision with all kinds of coloured sand. The best known place in the neighbourhood is Canoa Quebrada. This small sort of hippie village offers a fantastic dune landscape with a lot of clear lakes surrounded by coconut palms. It is a lively place where the people are really in to the Forró, the reggae and the samba. Do you want to go further away from Porto das Dunas then you can go to Jericoacoara, or briefly Jeri. Jeri is 300km to north of Fortaleza, but it is absolute worth the visit. The beaches, dunes and lagunes behind the village lead to a fantastic landscape. The beach of Jeri stands on the list of the top ten most beautiful beaches in the world! Porto das Dunas is just 15 minutes away from the centre of the sparkling city Fortaleza where you have a lot of places to go out, bars and restaurants. In Fortaleza you find various modern shopping malls including the hypermodern mall Iguatemi.
